On that rare occasion rocker Eddie Money is not rolling in a tour bus, his ticket to paradise is his 2006 Pontiac Solstice, which he takes up the California coast or up Interstate 5.

"I like driving up the 5 in California when there are no cops out," says former cop Money. "The 1 is a beautiful highway along the beach, it's gorgeous, very pretty. I like going on the tour bus, driving through the Appalachian Mountains. This is a beautiful country. You get up at 6:30 in the morning, go to the front of the bus, all of a sudden you're in the middle of the Smoky Mountains or outside the Grand Canyon. You see some gorgeous things. I like the road."

When Money, whose real surname is Mahoney, has the top down on his Solstice, fans have been known to stop at a light and get out of their cars for an autograph. "It's crazy!" Money says, owing it partly to his appearances on "The Drew Carey Show" and his friend and fan Kevin James' sitcom "The King of Queens." "A lot of people recognize me when I'm driving on the highway. They'll wave to me and put their hands up like 'Two Tickets to Paradise!'"

Money is partial to the Pontiac badge - he's always liked the Firebird and once owned a GTO. "I think Pontiac came up with some really fantastic lines in the car," he says of the Solstice. "There's something about Pontiac, the way they shape and design their cars. They're very good looking."

His Solstice only has 6000 miles on it. "I take very good care of it," he says. "I wash it a lot; it's my baby." Money gives it a 9 on a scale of 10 for the way it drives and looks. "It's a gorgeous car; it reminds me very much of a Porsche Spyder, the one James Dean died in," he says. "It's got the same kind of nose, the same kind of face. It's fun to drive, and you look really good in it."

"It's got five on the floor. I love the clutch, the stick shift is great," he continues. "I used to drive a Triumph, so I like to work the gears. I like to downshift, to go from second to first. I'm one of those nuts, you know?"
