Lance Magin

Lance Magin is living his dream. He races in NASCAR and has beaten some of the best drivers in Baja. Magin has proven and continues to prove that life is what you make of it.

Raised with the philosophy that winning is the only option and that one never gives up, Magin's early years were spent playing football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and drums. Then he became an addict of motorcycle racing.

Despite his previous athletic achievements, racing became his number-one passion. At age 18, Magin broke his back racing in an American Motorcyclist Association event. Suddenly, facing the future in a wheelchair, he wondered if his life was over.

Ultimately, he decided it was not. Just one year after his accident, using hand controls, Magin became the first paraplegic to race the Baja 1000. He hasn't looked back since.

Magin's courage, sense of humor, and gritty determination carried him a long way. Following the 2001 NASCAR season, he returned to desert racing. Best in the Desert is the largest, most televised racing series in the U.S., and Magin currently competes at the controls of a Ford Ranger, Class 7300.

In addition to racing, Magin welcomes all life's challenges and enjoys water, jet and snow skiing, racquetball, tennis, and kart racing. His other passion is music: singing, songwriting, playing guitar, piano, and drums. Grateful for the help and encouragement he's received since his accident, he now strives to embolden others with disabilities to focus on their capacities to achieve their dreams.
