2004 California International Auto Show Photos & Event Coverag

Fresh on the heels of the Paris Motor Show, the U.S. new-car show season kicked off October 27 in Anaheim, California. The first of the Motor Trend produced events to open its doors this season, the California International Auto Show featured an unprecedented number of new production vehicle unveilings, including the all-new Chrysler 300 SRT-8, Hummer H3, and Pontiac Grand Prix GXP, plus the Ford Saleen Mustang, based on the long-awaited, new-for-2005 Ford Mustang. Numerous concept vehicles were also on hand, such as the Chevrolet Nomad, Ford Shelby GR-1, Honda SUT, Infiniti M45, and Saturn Curve.

These tantalizing tease machines joined over 500 current production vehicles giving attendees an opportunity to check out the latest hardware in a non-sales environment. There truly is no more time-efficient and effective way to review current offerings and narrow down a shopping list than by attending an auto show. Both Chevrolet and Volvo even offered special ride-and-drive opportunities right at the convention center.

The Tampa Bay International Auto Show started the following da, bringing a similar, first-class event to the East Coast. A long roster of concept and exotic cars proved to be big draws, though crowds congregated around some of the hot, new 2005 models, such as the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Mustang.

Special events included classic Mustang and Nissan Z club shows, along with a low-ride display. Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shelton Quarles and History Channel "Mail Call" host/actor R. Lee Ermey held autograph sessions. For the kids, SpongeBob SquarePants and Spider-Man made appearances.
