Since its invention, the promise of the automobile has been one of transcending boundaries and opening frontiers for motorists. Now more than ever, technology and innovation are breaking barriers for a particular group of automotive consumers eager to share fully in that promise.
Mobility products are engineered specifically to address physical limitations. The efforts extended by major car manufacturers to adapt production-line vehicles for special mobility service have resulted in impressive strides, especially of late. The O.E. response to this "small by comparison" segment of new-vehicle buyers has grown overwhelmingly with each model year. Not only are automotive lines adding new vehicles featuring mobility enhancement, such as the Toyota Sienna with its new IMS Rampvan option, but manufacturers now also offer an impressive array of adaptive equipment changes, such as General Motors's Sit-N-Lift seat, which can be ordered directly through local dealerships.
