Rinspeed X-treme

Swiss Porsche tuner Rinspeed has worked its magic on the Porsche Cayenne, creating what must be the ultimate soccer mom (or soccer dad) ride. Given the "X-treme" moniker, this worked-over Cayenne features its biggest changes in the styling department, with a few tweaks to improve handling as well.

Perhaps the most eye-catching feature of the Rinspeed X-treme is the more aggressive front airdam, which incorporates larger air intakes, vertical fins, a front splitter, and brake cooling ducts. Redesigned fender flares and side skirts give this Cayenne a brawnier appearance than Zuffenhausen opted for: a freshened rear valance, diffuser, wheels, and twin chrome exhaust tips have all been fitted.

Underneath the X-treme, an electronic module has been installed to lower the SUV's air suspension by 35 mm, while 23-inch wheels and performance tires give the X-treme a more performance-oriented ride. Rinspeed claims that power has been bumped up to 600 horses, but unfortunately there's no word as to how that was accomplished. We're guessing the X-treme is based on the Cayenne Turbo which already pumps out a substantial 500 horsepower. Rinspeed will also customize the interior of the X-treme for you, if you wish, with optional bucket seating for all passengers, an entertainment system, or custom leather upholstery.

Pricing is not listed by Rinspeed (you'll likely have to contact them to get the details), but the X-treme looks expensive to us. Of course, it also looks like a sure-fire way to keep from seeing the mirror image of your Porsche sport 'ute at every other Southern California intersection.
