2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid -- Blake Fuller
Two Porsches, a Dodge Viper, a Corvette Z06, and a Lancer Evolution separated Blake Fuller from an overall One Lap win in 2004. Fuller, in a Subaru WRX, and the Evo ahead of him proved the potency of the all-wheel-drive Japanese sedans. Fuller returns this year to prove another point: Hybrid race cars work. His medium for delivery is a 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid.
Built with the help of UTI Technical Institute, the "Hot Rod Hybrid" makes a claimed 440 hp with a new battery pack and supercharged 2.5L inline-four. Fuller has removed 515-lb from the factory car, even after adding a solar charging system and a six-point cage. Fuller also claims a 12.9 sec quarter-mile time and lateral acceleration of 1.02 g. BC Racing coil-overs and Stillen anti-roll bar surely help the latter.
