First added to the Jeep lineup in 2006, the Jeep Commander is loosely based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee with several significant differences. A longer wheelbase allows this midsize SUV to seat seven passengers. A base and Limited model are offered, with a V6 engine in the base level and a 235hp V8 in the Limited. Additional fuel efficiency is available if buyers choose Chrysler?s 330hp Hemi V8. A five speed automatic transmission with shift gate is the only transmission option.
