 The all-new Jaguar XF was the last Jag designed and built by Ford Motor Co. before the luxury marquee was sold, along with Land Rover, to Tata Motors Ltd in early 2008. Designed the replace the aging S-Type, the XF, along with the all-new XK convertible and sedan, represent the new styling direction for the British brand.
The XF is designed to compete against the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Lexus GS, and Mercedes E-Class. Thus, all XF trims are offered as rear-wheel drive. Two engines, both V-8, are offered for the XF: The base is a 4.2-liter V8, which delivers 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The second is a supercharged version. Generating a staggering 420 hp and 408 lb-ft, the XF 4.2 SC is only matched by the BMW M models and Mercedes-Benz AMG tuned vehicles.
Features are plentiful and standard among the three XF trims. The base XF 4.2 Luxury, for example, includes a sunroof while the Premium Luxury adds GPS navigation and 19 inch tires. Besides the supercharged engine, the XF 4.2 SC offers a heated steering wheel and Adaptive Cruise Control. Finally, all three trims engulf drivers and passengers in leather, walnut and, for the sportier types, aluminum trim.
