The Plymouth/Chrysler Prowler was replaced by the Chrysler Crossfire in 2003. The Crossfire is a rear wheel drive sports car, designed by Eric Stoddard, is sold by Chrysler marque. The vehicle is built by Karmann in Germany and shares 39 percent of its components with Mercedes model vehicles. The chassis is a combination of the S-Class rear linkages, a modified C-Class engine compartment, a pre-2003 CLK floor plan and new stampings for the rear and side rails.

The vehicle comes with a standard, six speed manual transmission with a five speed automatic transition as an option. The base models of Crossfire were sold with a 3.2L V6, 18-valve SOHC engine.
