Tesla Overview
Tesla Motors has picked up where other automakers left off and has showed the world fuel efficiency can be fun. Their groundbreaking all-electric Tesla Roadster is able to hit 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat (squarely in the territory of traditional supercars like Lamborghini and Ferrari), while also delivering a 200+ mile range at only pennies per mile, all with batteries that Tesla has tested to last 100,000 miles. Besides their flagship roadster model, Tesla is also working on a new all-electric luxury sports sedan named the "Model S." It will be introduced in 2012 as an alternative to the BMW 5-Series and E-Class Mercedes sedans, and will carry an estimated price of $60,000. A third, and more affordable Tesla model code-named "BlueStar," at half the Model-S' price, is also in the works for a 2012 release. Tesla Motors are headquartered in San Carlos, California, with additional design and assembly facilities in England. Tesla's flagship showroom and service center opened in Los Angeles in 2008, with the Menlo Park, California location following shortly after. Additional dealers and service centers are planned throughout the United States as well as select European countries including Germany and Monaco.
