Founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki, the company, then known as the Suzuki Loom Company built weaving looms for the booming silk industry in Japan. With 120 patents and loom model rights, Suzuki began to look for other enterprises to expand his company. In 1937, he began making prototype cars that were quite innovative for their time.
