Maserati Overview
For over 100 years the name Maserati has stood for quality in the racing scene and fine road cars. Since its start in 1914, initially under the guidance the six Maserati brothers, the Maserati name has been a marquee name in both racing and road cars. In racing the wins have been in both Europe and United States. The United States wins included the Indianapolis 500 in 1940 and 1941.
After 1957 the company quit building racing cars and racing themselves, but they still built the cars for others. Starting in 1968 the company was bought and sold by different companies including Citroen, Fiat, Ferrari and Fiat for a second time

The company is making a very competitive return to selling high-end cars in competition with other major quality manufacturers. They returned to the United States markets in 2002.
