Isuzu Overview

Isuzu's tale started when Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding & Engineering Company (TISEC) and Tokyo Gas & Electric Industrial Company produced Japan's first truck in 1918. From then, TISEC would go through various mergers and divestments before it became Isuzu Motors Limited in 1949. Besides becoming an important producer of heavy-duty trucks, Isuzu also produced the world's first two-ton light-duty forward-control truck in 1959. In 1971, Isuzu secured a contract to jointly develop vehicles in the United States with General Motors Corporation. In 1980, Isuzu created American Isuzu Motors Inc.
