Though each of the three credit reporting agencies have a different format for their credit reports, all of the credit reports have the same basic types of information. You can find your date of birth, your social security number, and your employment information which can be used to identify you even though this information isn’t used in calculating your credit score. This information is updated based on the information you supply to your lenders.

Here is a list of the types of information you’ll find in your credit report.
-
Basic Biographical Information
All credit reports contain your full name, social security number, date of birth and your employment information. This information is used to identify you.
-
Credit Accounts
All of the accounts that you have opened in the last 7 years can normally be found on your credit report. Lenders typically report on these accounts monthly to show the account status. This information has a significant impact on your credit score. Some of the elements reported include the type of account, the age of the account, the credit limit, the current balance, and the payment history including length of delinquency if one exists.
-
Credit Inquiries
Whenever you apply for a loan you authorize the lender to obtain a copy of your credit report. These requests are recorded on your credit report and can affect your credit score. The inquiries section includes a list of all parties that have accessed your credit report within the last two years.
-
Public Record Information
Your credit report will also include any public record information that has been collected from state and county courts including bankruptcies, suits, foreclosures, wage attachments, judgments, and liens.
