Two brothers from Windsor Ontario are behind the establishment of Dodge. Elgin and John Francis Dodge had a bike and machine shop when they moved from Ontario to Detroit Michigan. Soon after moving to Michigan, the Dodge brothers began manufacturing automobile components. After assisting Henry Ford by providing financial backing for the Ford Motor Company, the Dodge brothers gained financial benefits from the investment " many of Ford"s cards relied on the components manufactured by the Dodge brothers. Roughly 13 years after moving to Detroit, the Dodge brothers established their very own automotive company, aptly named the Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company.
Dodge is currently a division of the parent company known as DaimlerChrysler. Dodge became part of the Chrysler Corporation in the late "20s. Dodge has been known to take the lead when it comes to automobile innovations. Dodge was the first of truck manufacturers to engineer its very own diesel engine design for heavy-duty Dodge trucks.
