Originally called the Smart City Coupe, the smart Fortwo is the brainchild of Swiss watchmaker Swatch and Daimler-Benz. A "microcar" at only 8 feet, 11 inches, three smart Fortwos could fit side-by-side in a standard European-parking slot.

The smart Fortwo is powered by a three-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates up to 71 horsepower. Gas mileage was originally estimated to be as high as 50 mpg/city and 61 mpg/freeway. Under the revised EPA fuel economy tests, the smart Fortwo currently gets 33 mpg/city and 41 mpg highway.
