The Saab 9-5 is currently in its first generation of production and has been manufactured by Saab since 1997. The predecessor of the 9-5 is the Saab 9000; the 9-5 is an executive car and it comes in two different body styles: the four-door sedan and the five door station wagon. Much like the Saab 9-3, the 9-5 is similar to vehicles like the Opel Vectra, and the L-Series offered by Saturn.

Since the year 2000 however, all of the 9-5s have a front located engine that is a V-6. Finally, the 9-5 comes with a four speed automatic transmission.
