The Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover sport utility vehicle that was first offered starting with the 2005 model year. The vehicle is manufactured by the Hyundai Motor Company and is assembled in Ulsan, Korea. The body style is a five door wagon and its layout features a front engine, front wheel drive, as well as an optional four wheel drive. There are two engine choices which include a 2.0 liter I4 and a 2.7 liter V6. In limited markets the Hyundai Tucson is also available with diesel engine. The transmission choices on the vehicle consist of either a five speed manual or a four speed automatic.

The Hyundai Tucson is built on the Elantra base along with the 2005 Kia Sportage. Since its inception the Tucson has seen limited changes for both the 2006 and 2007 models. The biggest changes were color coded cladding in 2006 and the GL and GLS trims were renamed in 2007.
