The Honda Civic was first introduced in 1972 as a two-door coupe and a three-door hatchback. The Civic has been in production ever since. The oil crisis of 1973 and the quality manufacturing gave Honda cars and the Civic a boost.
The Honda Civic Hybrid became available in 2003. A small gas engine and auxiliary electric motors powered by a battery array powers the car. The standard models are now available in two and four door versions.
The current model has several engine options including a 197 HP engine. The design is sleek and with subtle curves. The North American version is roomier and comes with more options while still delivering great mileage. The transmissions are either automatic or six or five speed manual. Honda took advantage of the oil crisis in 1973, and by making quality and good workmanship standard has been able to keep its place in the small car market. Honda has enjoyed an unparalleled run of success in the Northern American market.
