Chevrolet Aveo Model Info

A small and fuel-efficient vehicle, the Chevrolet Aveo has risen in popularity in recent years due to the increases in fuel prices and changes in consumer tastes. Available as either a subcompact sedan or four-door hatchback that is marketed as the Aveo5, the Chevy Aveo is available in three trims: Special Value, LS, and LT.

Each trim of the Chevrolet Aveois powered by the same 107 horsepower, 1.6 liter engine available with either a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic transmission. While this engine does allow the Aveo to get a fuel economy of 27 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, it does have the downside of giving the Aveo poor acceleration than other cars in the same segment.

Options and features for the new Aveo vary by trim. The Special Value model, only offered on the Aveo5 is the low-end model coming only with 14-inch steel wheels, manual locks, manual mirrors and windows, side airbags and a four speaker radio sound system. The LS trim adds other features such as air-conditioning and carpeted floor mats, cruise control, sunroof, antilock brakes, power windows, keyless entry, CD/MP3 player, and 15-inch alloy wheels. The LT trim which is only available on the sedan comes with most of the LS trim’s options as standard features and is available with artificial leather seating and upgraded sound system.

Despite its small size, the Chevrolet Aveo’s design allows it to give ample amounts of room to consumers. The Aveo is noticeably smaller and taller than Chevy’s other compact, the Cobalt. While this may make it less visually appealing, the Aveo’s extra height allows it to have plenty of leg and headroom and while the Aveo’s small size does give it small amounts of cargo room, it makes up for it by having the ability to fold the seats down and expand cargo room considerably, with the Aveo5 capable of carrying up to 42 cubic feet of cargo.

Chevrolet Aveo History

Debuting amongst a time when rising fuel prices aimed consumer tastes towards smaller more fuel-efficient vehicles, the Aveo became a hit with its affordability and fuel efficiency, even becoming one of the best-selling subcompact vehicles in the United States.

The Chevrolet Aveo remains relatively unchanged since its introduction in 2004 receiving minor facelifts and upgrades. Consumers looking at buying older model Aveos may want to look into buying models made after 2006 due to the addition of other features such as side airbags, alloy wheels, and cruise control.
