Buick Enclave Model Info

A full-sized luxury crossover SUV, the Buick Enclave is built on GM’s lambda platform, a platform that it shares with other GM vehicles, including the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet, Traverse and the Saturn Outlook. The Enclave is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that is capable of putting out 288 horsepower, and 270 ft-lb of torque and is available as either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Features for the Buick Enclave vary depending on whether the CX or CXL is chosen. The CX comes equipped with xenon headlights, powered liftgate, triple-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity and OnStar. The Enclave CXL adds to this with bigger wheels, leather upholstery, heated front seats, power passenger seat, and memory positioning for the driver. Other options available include: navigation system with back-up camera and real-time-traffic, rear-seat DVD entertainment system, remote start, rear park assist, adaptive headlights, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, and a dual-panel sunroof.

The new Buick Enclave is quite roomy, with 3 rows of seating for 8 passengers, and up to 116 feet of cargo room. The interior is also very comfortable described as feeling “genuinely first class. With a design reportedly inspired by private jet cabins.” The dash is curved with wood-grain inlays, and adorned with aqua-blue instrumentation.

Riding in the Enclave is described as smooth and quiet, in fact the Enclave has been considered one of the quietest vehicles available in the United States. However consumers may find the CXL to give a firmer ride than the CX due to the CXL’s 19-inch wheels.

Buick Enclave History

The Buick Enclave was introduced in 2007 as a replacement for Buick’s minivan-based Rendezvous, truck-based Rainier, and Terraza minivan. Since its debut the Enclave has gone through few changes, with a slight power upgrade being the only noticeable improvement made.

GM is planning on releasing an Enclave Super sometime in the near future. Though it has not yet been confirmed, the Buick Enclave Super may be powered by a V8 with gas direct-injection and variable-valve timing which will give it more power and better economy.
