The BMW 1-Series was first manufactured in 2004 for the European market. Slated below the highly popular 3-Series, it is considered an entry-level luxury sports car.
The BMW 1-Series is offered in three and five door configurations, or hatchbacks, the latter arriving in 2007. Though it shares over sixty percent of its components with the 3-Series, the 1-Series is built on its own platform.
